AI for Underserved Communities

AI applications have the potential to dramatically improve the lives of low-income, Black, and Brown communities throughout the Nation by unlocking extraordinary creativity, talent, and curiosity, improving their quality of life, and building generational wealth.

The Vision

Four years ago, before the notoriety of AI was upon us, the Soaricity Project was conceived. The Project's focus was to increase the pipeline of Blacks and Browns in STEM fields and academia by using AI, Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and voice recognition technologies to identify, nurture, mentor, generate dynamic education plans, and provide sources of financial assistance for individuals at all educational levels. Since that time, it has become clear that AI will have a significant impact on underrepresented communities.

Therefore, the focus of this Project has expanded from STEM education to include two other areas that significantly impact underrepresented communities: the legal system and finance. This Project develops AI applications to improve the quality of life in Black and Brown communities and move many from generational welfare to generational wealth. If we do not do it, who will? These communities will be left behind as others implement AI systems and processes that affect our neighborhoods, perhaps to our detriment.

Soaricity Project Goal

Identify an existing Philadelphia area non-profit that will embrace the Soaricity Vision and will champion a model that is a public-private partnership that includes academia. Through this collaboration, innovative AI tools will be developed and deployed to address the unique challenges faced by underserved communities, transform lives and uplift entire neighborhoods. The technologies developed will be based on data models that are culturally sensitive, local data centered, mindful of bias, and with privacy and security protections.

AI Community Legal Information

Develop a significant community legal resource accessible by mobile phones and other devices. A full range of vetted information is available 24/7 to help community members understand the first level of legal information tailored to their cirumstances.
In addition, appropriate referral information is provided for local community, city, state, or federal resources. The ML Model will be developed from local data, emphasizing an elimination of bias, considertion of accuracy, and privacy concerns.

Education Advancement

Our team is building the new wave of student success technology.

We are targeting the reduction of the work-life-school friction that overwhelms today's college and university students. At the same time, we save money for colleges and universities -- helping their ROI.

AI Financial Guides

AI Tools can empower Black and underrepresented communities and small businesses by providing easy-to-use tools to move individuals and families from a cycle of poverty or financial frustration to a mindset of hope and peace about their finances.

Additional information is provided that is tailored to the individual for wealth-building strategies, investment advice, and pathways to entrepreneurial opportunities. Partnerships with like-minded community organizations and financial institutions will provide the in-person mentoring and advice to implement strategies generated by the AI Tools.

"We have an opportunity to significantly impact generations to come in Philadelphia. Innovative approaches to using AI can bring targeted information and services to community members to aid them in making informed decisions to increase their quality of life, safety, and wealth building. AI Tools developed to serve the Philadelphia can be shared with Black and Brown Communities nationwide.

Based on the Philadelphia implementation of AI Tools discussed here, this model has the potential to be distriubuted to developing countries globally. My team of skilled AI professionals is avaiable to meet this challege."

NEXT STEP - We invite a nonprofit organization, aligned with the Soaricity Project's mission, to collaborate in launching an innovative AI-driven initiative to improve the lives of our community.
